The Radetzky March is a famous military march composed by Johann Strauss Sr., the father of the more well-known Johann Strauss II (the "Waltz King"). The march was written in 1848 to honor Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz, an Austrian military leader who achieved significant victories during the First Italian War of Independence. It was specifically commissioned to celebrate Radetzky’s victory at the Battle of Custoza.
