Born in Mexico City, Víctor Báez's works have been performed in concerts and premieres in several cities in North and South America and Europe, such as Klangspuren Schwaz, Komponisten Marathon Vienna and the International Forum for New Music in Mexico City. His work is broadcasted regularly by the Mexican and Austrian radio. Prizes and awards include 3 consecutive yearly composition grants from the Austrian Ministry of Arts, Culture and Education, a START Grant for New Young Artists, and the Fulbright Scholarship for his oncoming doctoral studies, starting in the Fall of 2014 in New York City. This composition was written for bass clarinet soloist Sarah Watts, who did extensive research on bass clarinet multiphonics. This piece is a great illustration on the integration of multiphonics in contemporary music.
