Modest Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition, arranged for Wind Quintet by Joachim Linckelmann. A part from the original, the only other orchestration commonly known of Mussorgsky's popular piano cycle "Pictures at an Exhibition" (Bilder einer Ausstellung) is Maurice Ravel's. However, there are other arrangements, such as those by Pander and Stokowski. And the rock version by the group Emerson, Lake, and Palmer should not be forgotten. This version for woodwind quintet is not intended to continue this tradition of arrangement, but rather to enrich the repertoire of this ensemble with a valuable concert piece. Once again, the woodwind quintet, with its multicolored combinations, has proven particularly well-suited to opening up Mussorgsky's cycle to chamber music and its enthusiasts. Score and Parts included.
