Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Quintet for Piano, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon in E-flat major, K. 452. Mozart wrote this quintet during a very productive period while he was living in Vienna. It was premiered on April 1, 1784, at the Burgtheater, with Mozart himself at the piano. In a letter to his father, he wrote: “I consider it the best work I have ever written in my life.” This was a time when Mozart was exploring new combinations of instruments and experimenting with color and texture in chamber music. The inclusion of wind instruments in such a prominent, equal role was highly innovative. In four movements: Largo - Allegro moderato, Larghetto, and Allegretto. Score and Parts included.
