Edvard Grieg - Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46, arranged for Wind Quintet by Joachim Linckelmann. Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46, is a four-movement orchestral suite drawn from his incidental music for Henrik Ibsen’s play Peer Gynt. It opens with Morning Mood, a serene and flowing depiction of sunrise, followed by The Death of Åse, a tender and mournful elegy. The third movement, Anitra’s Dance, is light and exotic, featuring delicate rhythms and graceful charm. The suite concludes with the famous In the Hall of the Mountain King, a dark, swirling piece that builds to a furious climax, vividly portraying Peer’s flight from the troll king’s realm. Score and Parts included.
