Gale - Just a Closer Walk With Thee for Clarinet Quartet

Just a Closer Walk With Thee, arranged for Clarinet Quartet by Jack Gale. “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” is a traditional African American gospel hymn whose exact origins are unknown, though it became widely known in the early twentieth century. Its lyrics express a prayer for spiritual guidance, strength, and a closer daily relationship with Jesus Christ. The hymn is also a cornerstone of New Orleans jazz funeral traditions, typically performed as a solemn procession before the music transitions into an upbeat second-line celebration.
