Johann Sebastian Bach - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, arranged for Clarinet Quartet by David Thomas. Johann Sebastian Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring is the familiar English title of the chorale movement Jesus bleibet meine Freude from his cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben (BWV 147), composed in 1723. The movement features a hymn melody by Johann Schop, supported by flowing instrumental lines that create a gentle, continuous texture. Although originally written for voices, strings, and continuo, it has become one of Bach’s most frequently arranged works for instrumental ensembles and ceremonial occasions..
